美國ABC電視台播映的LGBT主題迷你劇《當我們崛起時》（英文劇名：When We Rise），講述LGBT平權運動歷史，由《自由大道》（Milk）的奧斯卡獎金牌編劇達斯汀蘭斯布萊克 （Dustin Lance Black）撰寫，自籌備階段就備受矚目，首播劇情便寫實描繪出同志無端遭毆打，對性別、種族等歧視的狀態，頗具震撼力。

適逢台灣婚姻平權法案即將進入二讀，該劇在此刻播出也引起不少討論。編劇達斯汀蘭斯布萊克透露，自己花了3年時間去研究關於家庭、公平和差異的故事，「想把這些故事帶入生活需要相當的信心，也希望透過這部戲劇，讓觀眾瞭解向正確方向前進的必要性」。他先前在美出席首映會，未婚夫英國跳水金童戴利（Tom Daley）也出席力挺聲援：「我為我的未婚夫和他的作品感到驕傲。」

《當我們崛起時》由四位導演執導，其中由《心靈捕手》與《自由大道》入圍奧斯卡最佳導演的葛斯范桑（Gus Van Sant）打頭陣拍攝該劇前2小時，這也是他和編劇布萊克相隔8年後再度合作。該劇由愛奇藝台灣站獨家跟播美國，全劇共8小時，於2/28、3/2~3/4每晚9點播出，3/4後可在愛奇藝台灣站全集收看。
